Le premier concert des Stones a lieu au Marquee, à Londres, le 12 juillet 1962. Le groupe est alors composé de Brian Jones, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ian Stewart au piano, Dick Taylor à la basse et Mick Avory à la batterie. Les Rolling Stones jouent comme interval band, juste une demi-heure, le temps que le groupe principal se repose. Ils interprètent Dust My Broom, Bright Lights, Big City, Ride them Down, Bad Boy, Back in the USA et Down the Road Apiece. Ce soir-là, Keith lance à Brian cette phrase tristement célèbre: "Tu n'arriveras pas à trente ans, pas vrai?"
